Upcoming EuroCC2 Webinar: Introduction to GNU/Linux for High-Performance Computing

NCC HPC Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with our partners from Poland and Latvia, is launching a series of joint webinars as part of the EuroCC2 project. The first session in this series will take place next week, on 19 November 2025 at 11:00 CET, and we encourage all HPC users, beginners, and professionals to join.

This online training will provide a practical introduction to working in the GNU/Linux environment, the core operating system underpinning modern high-performance computing infrastructures. Since efficient use of HPC resources depends on strong command-line proficiency, this webinar is designed to equip participants with the baseline competencies required to navigate HPC systems with confidence.

The session covers key concepts, including the structure of the GNU/Linux operating system, the role of the shell, command-line logic, and the fundamentals of Bash scripting. Participants will also explore essential system utilities used for data processing and workflow automation. The training includes live demonstrations, showcasing real examples of Linux commands, scripts, and basic HPC workflows. Attendees can follow along on their own devices, either on local GNU/Linux systems or on HPC environments to which they already have access. Please note that supercomputer access is not included as part of this training.

This event is delivered in collaboration with:
• HPC Competence Centre Poland (ICM, University of Warsaw)
• HPC Competence Centre Latvia (in partnership with RTU HPC Center)
• HPC Competence Centre Bosnia and Herzegovina

The webinar will be conducted in English. Access details for the streaming platform will be sent exclusively to registered participants.
