Project description:
The DAAD Summer School was held from September 2 to 6, 2024, in Sarajevo, organized by the Verlab Institute, the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Sarajevo, and HTWG Konstanz from Germany.
Achieved Results:
- Participation and interdisciplinary knowledge exchange – The Summer School brought together 47 participants from 8 countries, providing them with the opportunity to gain new knowledge and skills in pharmacy, telemedicine, and artificial intelligence through lectures, panel discussions, workshops, and group work.
- Strengthening international cooperation – The event created opportunities for networking among young researchers from Europe and the Western Balkans, laying the groundwork for future cross-border projects and research initiatives in the field of digital health.
- Study visit to Bosnalijek – Participants had the opportunity to see firsthand how innovations and digital technologies enhance the pharmaceutical industry, improving product quality and production efficiency.
- Development of sustainable digital solutions – The focus on integrating sustainable practices into healthcare innovations enabled participants to develop strategies for long-term efficient and environmentally friendly digital solutions in healthcare.
- Encouraging ethical and user-centered design of healthcare services – Through interactive sessions, participants explored how pharmaceutical and telemedicine services can be tailored to patient needs while ensuring ethical standards and data protection.
- Fostering leadership and innovative ideas – With mentoring support, young researchers developed key competencies for innovation in healthcare and technology. The final part of the school included the presentation of team ideas, with the two best ones being awarded for their potential to establish start-ups.
The project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of science, higher education, and youth of the Canton of Sarajevo in September 2024.
