In line with the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science and the UNESCO Remote Access to Lab Equipment (UNESRALE) initiative, the Verlab Institute, in collaboration with UNESCO, announces a targeted virtual capacity-building programme aimed at empowering young researchers and scientists working in the field of life sciences.
This initiative provides:
- Remote access to High-Performance Computing (HPC) sandbox
- Tailored mentorship and expert support
- Specialized innovation and entrepreneurship training
The programme focuses on promoting innovation in the following domains:
- Artificial Intelligence in healthcare and diagnostics
- Simulation and modeling in biomedical sciences
- Data science in environmental and public health
- Neuroscience, epigenetics, and computational biology
- Digital health and e-health innovation
Selected participants will receive support in executing simulations in life sciences, AI model development and training, signal processing and other computationally intensive tasks.
Eligibility Criteria
The call is open to:
- MSc and PhD students
- Postdoctoral researchers
- Junior faculty members (within 5 years of earning their PhD)
- Young researchers up to the age of 35
Applicants must demonstrate:
- A clearly defined research project or innovative idea
- Proficiency in English
- Motivation to explore entrepreneurship and computational tools in their field
The programme welcomes applications from researchers based in:
- South-East Europe: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia
- All African countries
