Requirements for the quality and competence of medical laboratories BAS EN ISO/IEC 15189:2018

Training Objective: The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has published the new ISO 15189:2022 “Medical Laboratories – Requirements for quality and competence”. The standard specifies requirements for quality and competence in medical laboratories, and now includes requirements for patient-side testing. Point-of-care testing (POCT) is a form of examination in which testing is performed near or at the patient’s location (BAS EN ISO 22870:2018), and the requirements are incorporated into the revised edition of ISO 15189. The purpose of this seminar is to ensure that participants become familiar with the requirements of the BAS EN ISO/IEC 15189:2018 standard, i.e. understand the purpose of the requirements that medical laboratories must fulfill. Also, the goal is to train participants who are currently conducting preparatory activities related to compliance with the requirements of the standard to prepare their own documentation and prepare for the accreditation and evaluation process.
